During this day, a lot of problems have been observed with Google’s price comparator, Google Shopping.
At Netrivals we have been carrying out different checks, accessing from different countries such as Spain, France, the United Kingdom and Germany and through different browsers. Using transactional keywords, that is, those with the highest competition in the auction, Google Shopping shows only one seller per product, not allowing price comparisons between sellers.
Google Shopping, the price comparator of the tech giant Google, is NOT allowing you to compare prices.
Several problems have been detected, among which we find:
- The price comparator does not allow access to the price comparison of different sellers
- It does not show the vast majority of stores that sell and publish the product on the platform
- It only allows access to the seller who has the BuyBox. All the others are overlooked.
The price comparator does not allow access to the price comparison of different sellers
The moment the user presses on the button “Compare prices of X stores” they will end up on a landing page that says there are no products to show.
Does not show the vast majority of stores that sell and publish the product on the platform
In the vast majority of the cases analyzed of products with more than 10 sellers, Google Shopping only shows one of them. With this it does not allow the user to know more prices than that of a seller.
It only allows access to the seller who has the BuyBox. All the others are overlooked.
In cases where different sellers are shown, the user can only go to the page of one of them, the one with the Buy Box. In case of wanting to compare them, the user is directed to the mentioned error page.
Throughout the day we will update the information, stay tuned.
